Leon,

I think I may have to pull out of this one, as I'm far busier than I imagined leading up to the AW. :( Thanks for organising this though, and if you do it again after I get back from OS I'd be interested. :)

Guys,

The Heritage Fleet workshops is the last remaining place in Australia where they still do hot-rivetting. If you have a contact it may be beneficial to your shots if he could arrange for your to shoot some old time fabrication.

Just a thought.

Sheepie,

As I was the only one for the Centennial Park excursion it has been canned, so I would like to join your excursion. I have sent a PM to Gary for registration. BTW: I am staying at Formule 1 Enfield.

Cheers,

I'll be sending out more details on Wednesday night. I'm guessing maybe you don't have transport, so we'll have to organise that. Let's know.

That is okay. I am not sure whether it is north, south, west or east. All I do know, is that it is about a 10 minute drive from lust city (Belmore).

I am staying at:

Hi,

I'll be coming from Newcastle on the Saturday morning, so I can pick up those that need a ride. If you are on the North shore somewhere, let me know and I can pick you up on the way.

If nobody needs a ride from the North shore, then Fozzie, I can probably detour via the Formule 1 and pick you up. Just can't do both, would add to much travel time.

Cheers,

I'm not doing the fleet worksop, I'm off to stroll around lavender bay but if they are anywhere near each other I can pick him up as I am only a couple of mins from where he is staying.

Let me know.

Deb,

Getting Fozzie from the no-tell motel to the activities shouldn't be a major issue.

We have a number of people staying at the same place, and if Mudder is, then he's also going to Blackwattle Bay so they hopefully may be able to share resources.

DETAILS FOR HERITAGE FLEET

Postby sheepie on Thu Aug 04, 2005 9:18 pm

Hi all - here's some details for Saturday's Heritage Fleet Workshop...

We will be meeting at 9am SHARP outside the main entrance to the workshops/wharf area. Keep an eye out for me - I'll be the one with camera gear ;) Please make yourself known as soon as you arrive. Once 9am comes around, I don't intend waiting for anyone not already there - so if you are running late, please let me know on my mobile - 0434 995621.

Details of location as follows:
Access to the Heritage Shipyard is through Gate 4, James Craig Road, Rozelle Bay, Rozelle. As I understand it, there is parking around the area - it seems the main parking area has been taken up by material ready for the upcoming Boat Show. Please use your brains in deciding an appropriate place to park!

Image

Image

As has been stated before, you will be entering a working wharf/workshop area - there is a very real possibility of injury if you are not fully aware of your surroundings - so please take care!
No responsibility will be taken by the organisers of this weekend (including myself) for any damage to you or your property while participating at this event!
You may need to be issued with a hard hat (not sure at this stage). You will certainly need enclosed footware, trousers (pref jeans or similar) and sensible shirt. Be prepared for your clothing to get a little soiled (or a lot, depending how much you 'really want the shot'!).

sheepie,

I have read and printed your post.

Help: I need a lift from Formule1 Enfield, Stratfield South to venue.

I am also willing to organise a taxi to someone's place to catch a ride.

Fozzie,

I think I saw Deb (HappyPhotographer) offering people a ride from Formula 1 to the Lavender Bay walk... If that is still an option, then she could drop you off in the City and either I could pick you up or it would be a very short cab ride to Glebe... Call me on 04II-I96946 if you need a lift... I will be picking up Krystian on the north side at 8:15 and could pick you up in the City at 8:30...

Krystian... Please PM me your address so that I can pick you up on Sat. Morning...
Cheers, John

Thanks Birddog - but if it comes to that I might as well pick him up from the motel.
At this stage, Deb's offer combined with Leek may be the best option. Let's see what eventuates - we'll sort it out :)

As long as numbers fit I can do this. I was planning on shooting straight past there anyway so can drop him just about on the doorstep. Let me try and finalise numbers.

At this stage it looks like a goer for Fozzie to come with me. He might get there a tad early, but I am sure he can amuse himself until everyone gets there.

Pictures Please

Postby sheepie on Mon Aug 22, 2005 3:49 pm

Hi all - as I mentioned on the day of the Heritage Workshops visit, it is my intention to gather people's best shots from the day and send them in for the Trust's use.
Can each of those who participated please take the time to select some of your best work from the day, and send to me by email - ideally, your exif data will include your name so they can properly identify you :)

I'll collate these and prepare a cd of them for presentation.
I understand if you don't want to do this, but remember the hospitality we enjoyed was all for no fee - so I think this is the least we can do.

Thanks all :)

Format for Submitted Pics

Postby sheepie on Mon Aug 22, 2005 4:35 pm

Sorry - forgot to mention the format:

Please send largest size jpg's you're comfortable with submitting. Compression should give as high quality as possible - either 9 or 10 I think it is. Please try to remember to convert (if required) to RGB colour space.

Might pay to send each file seperately unless you're able to give me a location to download from :)

thanks again!

Sorry Leon... I did see the previous message and should have responded...

Just a thought, but might it be better to get a few prints framed for them instead of a CD???

They didn't look like the sort of people who'd be terribly familiar with a CD or a computer - if you know what I mean... It might cost a little bit more, but I think it would be worthwhile to build a relationship with them...

Either way, I'll prepare some of my better shots and post them up on smugmug for you to download at your leisure...
Cheers, John

Not a bad idea - I'll see what we end up with and may get some printed out.
Thanks :)
