Happy birthday to us!

Postby gstark on Fri Aug 05, 2005 8:30 am

Welcome

Welcome to all of our members coming to Sydney for our Anniversary Weekend.

We all hope that you have an enjoyable, and a safe time here, getting lots of photos, and meeting up with your friends and colleagues.

Nnnnsic's edit:
For those of you not coming but would still like to see and hear the speeches, the drunken slurs, the laughter and whatever else will probably happen throughout the night, you can use the DSLR Users.com Video Broadcast Chat facility to chat in real-time with other users while you watch and listen to the event.

You won't need a password so just type your login name and... well... login!

Mozilla-based browsers: you may get an error saying you should restart the browser... ignore it.

Minimum of Flash 7 required.

It's very likely that we'll be streaming at various points throughout the day, testing from locations like our home, Birddog's place, and Mancini's... so if you're at work or bored or bored at work or whatever... log in and see what we're testing... tell us if the audio feed has problems, if the video feed has problems, etc.

For the event, we'll probably start streaming from 6.30, but it's doubtful any of the main events won't happen until around 7.00 - 7.30 at the earliest. I'll update this thread as I find out more.

Yes, Happy Birthday everyone!

To those attending AW functions, have fun (and take plenty of pix to show us unfortunate non-attendees what's going on). :D

Being something of a Johnnie-come-lately I am only too sorry that I did not learn of the this D70Users site earlier.

The strength of the site, I feel, rests not only upon the shoulders of the many contributors/participants who generate the volume but also fairly and squarely on the foresight and wisdom of those who first initiated and subsequently sustained it.

There have been many wonderful pictures shared and a wealth of information and fun. It is like a birthday party every day.

I can't believe how much this forum has grown and changed over such a short space of time. It's only been 1 year!

Thank you admin(s) for the foresight to setup such a forum, thanks to our patron and guru for the help and support of members in their times of lust needs, and thanks to all members for joining in and participating and ultimately making this place what it is.

It's fantastic to be able to interact and socialise with people regularly at meets and mini-meets; and I look forward to meeting folks travelling from afar in these coming days - at our first maxi-meet. :)

Hee hee. Happy birthday!
I remember the first post I read which was something along the lines of "which photography magazines do you read?". I joined up thinking that it was Aussie and I would be supportive but wondering if it would really go anywhere. It's grown so much and many people find it a fantastic resource. Well done everyone! Have a great time at the anniversary meet. I wish I could be there!

Congrats to all people who make this forum happen! It's a great achievement and it couldn't be celebrated in a better way than this big AW meeting. Like the mini-meets, it embodies the spirit of the forum - camaraderie beyond the virtual Web. Being currently overseas I won't attend but send my best wishes for everybody to have great fun at the AW celebrations!

It is always nice to put a face to a name and last night was a wonderful example of the friendship that exists within this community.

Roll on tonight - more members plus the highlight of the evening - the challenge results.

I would also like to add, that this forum is not just Australian but encompasses the whole world and it would be wonderful to see some, if not all, members from O/S at future functions.

:D

It may seem young but this forum seems like it has stood the test of time, the information and wisdom i have recieved from this forum is nothing short of amazing! I think it's safe to say this is the best DSLR resource on the face of the planet!
The community has been very accepting and I find the people here from different walks of life all wonderful.

Big thanks goes to Gary for the conception of a great idea and following it through, the exceptional Mods, The only Sponsor: the legendary Birddog and all the great people who make this forum what it is

all the best for the future!

I can only echo the sentiments expressed by others - well done and thanks to everyone involved in this forum and everyone who contributes to it. I'm sorry that I couldn't participate in this weekend's events, but I'm sure everyone will have a great time and burn lots of film, umm, pixels.
