Saturday Night AW Dinner ReviewJust got home from a great night and before I crash, I just want to take a moment to say a big thank you to all those involved in not just tonight, not just this weekend, but the whole D70users/DSLRUsers concept.
1. The setting. Mancini's was just perfect. Great food, great service and just the right sized room for a function like this. 2. The winners. Congrats to Heath, thoroughly deserved IMHO. The best bit was that he was at our table and we got to drool close up To all the placegetters, well done. 3. The company. I mentioned in an earlier thread that I can't identify under the threat of excommunication that I was looking forward to meeting some of our interstate members tonight. Lo and behold, we got there early and plonked ourself at an unoccupied table, who should join us but the bulk of the VIC and SA visitors!! It was both a pleasure and privilege to have a chance to get to know these people. Joanne and I couldn't have asked for better dinner company. 4. The laughs. Too many to mention, everyone was in a great mood and having a great time, but for me the highlight was tormenting Stubbsy and his attempts to photograph me. Now, I've got a very ordinary head that is better placed BEHIND the lens. Everytime he'd take a pic of me I'd grab the camera and delete the pic. He finally got me though (grrrrr) but the best pic on his CF card is no doubt when I grabbed his camera and took a pic of him... All in all, a great night and many thanks to Gary, Leigh, the Mods and Birdy as well as all the others involved for a thoroughly enjoyable evening. If I'm alone in a forest and my wife is not around to hear what I say, am I still wrong ??
John,
I'm thrilled that you enjoyed yourself so much. I can honestly say that I think everybody present had a great time, and quite frankly, I cannot think of a better bunch of people to spend a Saturday night with. g.

Thanks Gary - for creating the 'garden of eden' for D70 lovers. Thanks Tan - incredible person with amazing generousity. Your family deserves all the blessings in the world. Thanks MHD (Scott) - For all the competition stuff and everything else! Thanks also to everyone. I couldn't stop talking the entire time!!! I struggled with eating as I was constantly engaged in witty and inteligent coversations. At one stage I was so excited, that mid sentence I spat some lettuce accidently luckily it didn't hit anyone. Thanks go to my table for not laughing at me too much! HB
T'was a great night... with great entertainment, food and company...
It was good to meet several of the interstate members, and those I didn't get a chance to meet - I at least saw... Thanks to all who were involved in organising such a GREAT night out... We were a little ambitious to bring mini-Leek along, so had to leave earlier than planned, but that's life... Looking forward to next year... Hordern Pavilion maybe??? Cheers, John

I had a great time last night. Thanks to all those involved in organising the event and weekend. I really enjoyed meeting everyone. Everyone was so friendly. Lots of laughter in general and interesting conversations.
That makes me laugh reading that just now. It was nice admiring your prize...once you managed to tear yourself away from it! Nicole

Save those pics just in case Heath decides on the "scarier than terrorism" theme. They will be surefire winners If I'm alone in a forest and my wife is not around to hear what I say, am I still wrong ??
Thanks to all responsible for the organisation of this great event! Gladys and I enjoyed ourselves very much, sorry to the people I meant to chat to but didn't get around to! I've already left the country and am typing this from Changi airport in Singapore, but I'm certainly very glad I waited around for the AW! Bravo all, looking forward to the next one!
I'd like to share my sincere thanks to all those involved in the organising of the AW weekend. I didn't get to any of the events.. just the dinners, but i'm sure they were just as great.
I also seriously enjoyed the company of everyone that attended the dinners. Here's to another great year of making friends, and having fun. Geoff http://www.gleff.com

I just got home from the AW dinner as well.... It took me a bit longer than some, but I had to drive back to Adelaide. Vicki and I had an excellent weekend, it was great to be able to meet the people behind the posts at last!
Thanks to everyone (you know who you are) who worked so hard to make the weekend happen, it really is a privilege to be a part of such a group. Cheers What's another word for "thesaurus"?
