Twin lens deal

Postby sky on Mon Aug 08, 2005 12:48 pm

Just to let you know, any new D70 buyers (like myself) that are looking at buying interest free through Harvey Norman, they've just offered a twin lens kit as part of their $1999 deal - a Tamron 70-300 I think, with the standard Nikon 18-70.
I took in my Camera Farm print out (thanks Albey) that has twin lens kits for $2029, and was prepared to try bargain, but turns out they're offering the new deal to keep up with the Canon twin lens deal! Yay!

Don't do it.

They're trying to hook you by comparing the D70 with the Canon 350.

The Canon is good, but should be compared with the D50. The D70 remains closer in spec to the Canon 20D.

And the D50 is good, has a 2 lens Nikkor deal (15-55 + 55-200) and if you buy that deal you'll pick up a Nikon Flash for free as well.

How do you mean Gary?
I thought the D70s with two lens for $1999 was an OK price....

Sky,

My point is that, unless they're comparing the D70 with a Canon 20D, they're trying to confuse you.

The D70 should be somewhat cheaper than what they're trying sell you, regardless of the sweetners that they think they're adding.

Comparing it with a Canon is little more than marketing bullshit, and should be avoided at all costs. You're better off to judge each camera on its own merits, and your personal needs.

Then make your decision upon what you wish to buy, and then look for the best deal.

the interest "free" thing is very shady indeed.
there are account keeping "fees"
payment handling "fees"
and they want to to "borrow" more money and keep extending your credit line.
