What is the best online portfolio site?I was just wondering what people have found to be the best site to upload their portfolio for others to view. I have found a few places that seem ok but before I outlay any money I was wanting to hear a few opinions.
So far it would seem that smugmug.com would be the front runner in my opinion. Cyrus It is more important to click with people than to click the shutter.

I use smugmug and apart from their downtime being our peak time I have had no problems with them.
Get yourself a code from one of the memebers here and save yourself some money... http://www.d70users.com/viewtopic.php?t=7421 (That's two recommendations in 10minutes..... I think I will have to PM Stubbsy with my code ) Last edited by Mal on Wed Aug 10, 2005 7:11 pm, edited 1 time in total.

I've got a camera, it's black. I've got some lens, they are black as well.

Agree - but that is only my opinion, based on some research I did nearly a year ago now. Make sure you check the thread on smugmug discount codes if you do decide to join us Last edited by sheepie on Wed Aug 10, 2005 7:13 pm, edited 1 time in total.

I'm very happy with smugmug now used it for about 2 months now and everyone that has seen it has commented on how professional it is.

hehe - do you see a developing trend here? *** When getting there is half the fun! ***
ummm I actually did a search for smugbug but I couldn't find anything, maybe I had a brain failure and didn't put in what I thought I did or something.
Thanks for the feedback, I'm still on the 7 day trial for smugbug so I'll find a code for the discount before purchasing the full membership. Cyrus It is more important to click with people than to click the shutter.

I use Imageevent.com. Their pretty fast, nice and easy to set up albums (which can be personalised) and only cost $25 (US) a year. I decided not to use smugmug after the amount of down time they appeared to have. Maybe thats fixed now though.

While they went through a period where it seemed every monday night they would be down for some time, this seems to have stopped - I haven't noticed any down time here for several months. I think it was while they were upgrading. *** When getting there is half the fun! ***
i built my own sites, and utilise the "gallery" php code / engine to actually deliver and manage images ... but i work in IT and have my own linux server hosted in my employers co-location / data centre free of charge so its not as feasible without that "perk" i guess.

I'm embarrased to ask this, but I'm still on my 7 day trial period and despite reading all of the HELP information on the smugmug site, I can't actually find a way of using another members discount code without actually cancelling my trial membership and using the discount code when starting a new membership.... am I missing something is that actually the case?

My brother did the same thing... After I alerted him to the discount option, he sent smugmug a quick e-mail with the relevant code and they actioned it retrospectively... They are usually very helpful and genuine that way... Give it a try... Cheers, John
