Hello all...
Well I couldn't make it to the AW night, so I went out photographing instead!
This was my first attempt at concert photography.
I mainly used an old E series 50mm f1.8 manual focus lens.
I guessed all of my exposures (mainly f2.8 @1/60th sec).
I pushed the ISO up so they do look a bit grainy.
I found the constant variation in lighting very challenging.
The images shown here are straight out of the camera.
In hindsight, none of my shots are very artistic - this is something that I will have to work on.

For these to be straight out of the camera and your first attempt at concert photography, I think you have done an excellent job!
You have managed to capture the mood and feeling of the place, and predominately isolated the main subjects from 'clutter' in the background. It is always challenging doing this kind of work with the constant variation in lighting - I haven't attempted it yet (can't sing and take pics at the same time!).
I really like the second one, it gives the veiwer a sense of what it is like on stage, the third is good except for the harsh spot light on his face, but I'm sure that could be fixed in PP. I like the forth one too, and the last ties up the story!

I agree with the overexposed face, and I don't think I can fix it with Nikon Capture. I do have an old copy of Photoshop elements (2nd edition) but am never sure where to start...

First go at conert photography  these are great. To be very picky there's a couple of blown highlights but you've really captured the feel of the artists and with a manual lens I'm impressed... These are great  Aka Andrew
