Need advice on a shoot!Hi guys,
Haven't been around for a while. But I got a pretty important shoot coming up this weekend. I am kind of nervous. The shoot I am doing is for a professional hockey player here in Calgary. He's quite famous. He wants some shots of him and his daily workout routines. Something for him to look back on when he's old I guess. I need some ideas. I feel like my mind is blank right now. Do you guys know of any good website where there are cool photos of atheletes and then working out? Not jus tin the gym, but outdoors as well. I am also shooting this in the Rocky Mountain town of Canmore. It's very beautiful there. Scenery won't be an issue. I guess I am just nervous. Who knows who he'll introduce me to, if I get this done right. Damn millionaires! Johnny

here are a few websites that may give you some ideas http://www.daveblackphotography.com/ http://www.sportsshooter.com/ http://www.si.com here's a couple on portraits http://www.joeyterrill.com/ http://www.gormanphotography.com/gorman.html good luck mate!
Congratulations on the shoot. I hope the sites listed above give you the inspiration you need.
Remember, try not to be nervous, even if you are. Be confident in your ability, which is very good, and trust in your own skill. If your photos of the shoot are as good and artistic as your photos that you have shown us, then he will be very happy with the results. Steve.

Wrong city and country for him, I would guess Iginla or Ference? Anyways, most teams have a team photog (my frind shoots for the SJ Sharks) and they will not allow you into their facilities. Make sure it is cleared through the team before you show up or you might have drama. My advice is to figure out his personality, is he a finesse player that wants pretty boy shots (sergei ferorov) or is he a gritty type who wants sweaty shots in a dirty old boxing gym (Domi)? What is he going to want to look back on in 20 years and say yeah, thats who I was. Good luck!!!! Andy D70, 70-200VR, 18-70, 50 1.8, SB800

neeper - congratulations, really hope this opportunity works well for you, plenty of sensible research advice shown above, guess i'd be picking up hockey magazines as well - surely they'll do the odd 'lifestyle' article in- between the matchday action shots??
on the day, take your ideas and if you can, just be yourself, sounds crass i know but hopefully your personalities will click and a flow will develop and before you know it the fixed ideas you had will move over for fresh ideas that appear before you.... apologies if that sounds all 'life-coach' - i have never been in your position - i'm just rying to express how i'd hope it would work for me if the opportunity arose... good luck Chris in the beginning was the word, and the word was Aardvark......
Ok seriously!! Of all players on the 25 players on the Flames, how did you guess Ference??? That is seriously freaky. I am actually doing this for him personally. Nothing to do with the actual team. We are not shooting at the Saddledome or anything, so should be all good. Johnny

Maybe I'm psychic!!!!!! Maybe not, Canmore is his home town if I'm not mistaken. Good luck, should go fine. Tell Sutter (Daryl) we miss him in San Jose.
