You're all thinking within the box. It says 50MM shots only.....doesn't say it has to be shot with a 50MM lens.

i don't think that there will be an issue in terms of lens quality if the 50mm theme is chosen. i assume that most people will judge firstly on the imagination used in crafting the image and then on the finer points of image quality later.
the 50mm theme will be mis-interpreted as the previously theme.
People won't work on the 50mm but sure will work on the photos with subjects, colour and etc.... Birddog114

Actually, I think that the the 50mm or 10sec themes would be easier to interpret. Look at the exif data and if not right, then it doen't matter, it is not allowed, MHD sends it to /dev/null. 
Sure, one can modify the exif data manually, but we have to trust the participants

My biggest concern is that 10 sec is a loooong exposure without a tripod.

Mine too. ALthought that shot the other day, cant remember who posted it, was cool. The one where the guy zoomed whilst exposing. I dont have a tripod so I'd have to get sam to stand incredibly still by telling her there was a snake or something and rest it on her head. Matt

 It's one way of getting rid of it...
Just don't try to photograph wildlife with it though because the loud squeak will frighten your subject away... Cheers, John

Perhaps you can improvise with a portable table or something.. it can't be any worse than using the cheap tripod i'm using A slight wind and the thing sways.

If you dont have a tripod, there are plenty of makeshift ways to supplement one.
I believe we have a winner here as I don't see the alternatives catching up by Sunday???... HB

Oooh this long exposure stuff I really like doing. I'll enter for sure.
By the way one of my best long exposures that was taken at over ten minutes was without a tripod. Basically I piled up some rocks and put my camera with the strap supporting the lens and the body sitting on my toque (snowcap in other tongues). It is one of the best shots I ever took, and to this day the only one that has (yet) sold. http://www.flickr.com/photos/elton/1947 ... et-655088/

Or is it open to Non D70 like D2x or D100 for that matter how about Canons, Pentax, Minolta etc? I'm back
