Melbourne August Night Meet - Friday August 26, 2005

Postby PiroStitch on Wed Aug 10, 2005 11:32 pm

Hi everyone,

Please reply to this topic if you are interested in joining us in a night meet. There will be food and night photo practice :D

Meet up @ Fed. Square again I guess at 6:30pm?

We can trek down Southbank again as I know down that way, there are some excellent opportunities to capture Melbourne's skyline at night + it really lights up when the fireballs are unleashed.

Alternatively, we could trek down towards the Shrine as the Arts Centre and St Kilda Rd is nicely lit around there.

Cheerio,

Wayne PS. Any ideas for dinner? :D

Current list of people attending (as of August 22)//

G'day Wayne,
That sounds like fun... I'd love to join in but won't know whether I can or not until closer to the date, due to work... It'd be great to get some city skyline shots at dusk...

Hi Wayne,

Put me down as a possible, although have to wait for husband to get home to look after the kids before I can leave!
Should be good though! What are the chances of parking around the Botanic Gardens at that time, and be free?? Or someone might like to give me a lift in if they are coming from the SE burbs.....

Rofl as long as you don't hog our gear (aka. Kipper vs Nikon Boy's D2X style) ;) :P

Stormy, if you can make your way to the city, I can give you a lift home as I'll be driving into the city and parking at Fed. Square. I think night rate is $8 flat or around there.

Botanical Gardens walking to Fed Sq. is quite a fair trek.

In the light of some comments made by myself on this forum in the past week, and some members getting rather hot under the collar about them i dont think it would be a good idea for me to come along.

Have a good one!

I can give you a lift back home from the city. If the meet started around 7-7.30 I could also give you a lift into the city but with the meet starting early I think I'll have to go to the city straight from work (Laverton)

What comments? Jamie don't let any heated debates put you off from attending mate. Everybody has a point of view and everybody on this forum respects the other person's point of view regardless of whether they agreed to it or not.

Thankyou for the very kind offer Alex, Please don't travel half way across Melbourne for me! I'll work something out....might even drag my Hubby along as my assistant! Thankyou anyway :D

Yeah Jamie, don't sweat it mate! Voiced opinions are just that and everyone is entitled to them. Just get out there have some fun with a bunch of great guys. I'm sure you can share some tips as well, going by some of the night images you've taken in the past.
Hey Wayne, I hope this goes well and you set-up another night meet in the coming months.

Mike

You can travel to Melb via train, the train service is called Vline, I have never travelled by train to Canberra, so cant advise.

If you are staying in a hotel in melbourne, they can advise you on the best way to get to Federation Square. It should be a short walk from any of the hotels in the city.

I will be in the city early 5:30ish, travelling via tram.

Until everyone leaves...sorry I know that sounds vague but that's how long it will take :)

Usually meets go for about 2+ hours. The last meet we had during the day went for about 3+ hours
