Wow there are some fantastic action shots in amongst that. I would have bumped the saturation up a little to bring the colours out a bit more, also made them a little brighter with levels.

I love these images. Having an under 7 myself (we also lost the last game of the season) I really appreciate the work invovled in getting them. It just doesn't seem to matter where I stand around the field I have a coaches butt in my face

Your last image seems to have a slight colour cast to it. Otherwise I love the colours, the sharpness.

Mitedo, great captures. I personally would have made the pics a little brighter. BTW do they make to goals smaller for the little guys?

A 200-400 VR or the 300/2.8 VR will do the job very nice

I have an under 8 (Siena) and under 12 probably in the same comp Mitedo. I just love the action and determination of these players and find it more entertaining than the older teams. I have been taking shots throughout the season to make up a CD for the parents and kids. I must say though that the VR makes a hell of a difference in clarity. I make do with the kit lens and 70-300G. We should have a chat sometime on techniques, I have met Oneputt and am at Buderim. We might have to start a Coast Chapter.

Mitedo,

Excellent shots. My son also plays under 7s and they also have bright white jerseys so the shooting conditions are tricky esp. on a sunny day. Love the colours and sharpness. #2 #5 and #6 stand out for me...

Just to contrast the use of a basic lens in this type of photography, I have posted a sample with the 70-300 with no processing as far as I can remember, it is just a jpeg out of the camera that I looked back in my files for to compare with the VR. Ideally I should take a tripod along to such events, but you already get some looks when you take out the gear so I like to be as unobtrusive as possible. Perhaps a monopod would do the trick. Anyway, as I said in an earlier post, I find the sheer determination on the kids faces in the teams far more engaging than an adult match and more accessible too. Putting all the images together on a CD for the kids is a good contribution to the team as well. I just looked again and it does have a film curve1 included. This is on pixspot at http://www.pixspot.com/albums/userpics/ ... sample.jpg if you want to look at a larger version.
