Fresh tracksPossibly one of the best Oz Skiing days I have had
(more to follow later) http://images.potofgrass.com/host/boguth_0801 Kit + CP Lots of PP (Raw convesion with WB, then levels and curves, then there was to much magneta in the foreground snow so I had to do a curve adjust on red and blue) Snow is hard stuff to shoot New page

Re: Fresh tracks
Really like the photo, even with a a bit of magenta left, brings back memories of back home! Snow is very hard to shoot, I read this article a while ago, at the NY Institute of Photo. May have a few tips you could use. The trees are probably a bit dark, on my monitor anyway. Looked at a few of your other snow pictures, does look like a great day at the snow. Some good shots there too. Cheers, radar. Last edited by radar on Mon Aug 15, 2005 1:13 pm, edited 1 time in total.

Re: Fresh tracks
for my interest: why is there magenta in your photo? from my past exp taking photos at the snow fields, it was heavy in blue.
I dont know...
I found that there was a different CB for the FG and BG.. I must have ballanced for the BG which overcompensated for the FG (which was brighter, so I then used curves to compensate for that) New page

I like that shot a great deal, but I don't get the colors, MHD. The background snow looks like it has a green cast and the magenta in the foreground is something I've never seen before.
If that's the way it looked out of the camera, I'd be concerned about the WB going on the fritz. my gallery of so-so photos

I like the first one. I can see the culprit in the distance too.
That snowmaking machine is a strange item. Steve.

Sorry Kerry, I cant see the green cast on the BG... I can see a slight magneta on the FG...

MHD.
Nice pics and that first one just speaks volumes to a keen skier! There is nothing more satisfying than being one of (or THE) the first to cut fresh tracks in new snow! However, I truely dislike you at present! Im due to go on holiday for a couple of weeks on Friday and cant go skiing this year due to a compression fracture in my spine. So please dont post any more of these, you will just make me even more depressed!! Great to see you got some good skiing (and weather) in though!! Rob. Smile; it makes people wonder what you have been up to.
hehehe...
