Yep.... I know it's not a good photo per se, but I quite liked the perspective of the tree being (ie looking) taller than the lighthouse.... and this is the photo that prompted me to get into photography more seriously and buy a dSLR... so it has some meaning for me.... :)

Guess I'd better answer my own question. Mine is a shot I took while sailing off Sydney on the tall ship Svanen. The pic is of another tall ship - the Bounty. On the same day member ChristianD was also present and I believe his avatar is of the same ship.

Piro. Guessed you didn't take that pic, but it raises the question - is it your x-ray and Homer just stole it from you

NO.

My wife wouldn't let me buy another D70 to take a photo of my D70, so I had to go searching the net.

In my mind, my avatar symbolises that with the D70, the sky is the limit !

One day I can hopefully change this pic to a D2X :)

The interesting question is what the avatar represents of you, or your reason for its choice. I remember MattK making a similar comment early in the forum history. Yes I did take this shot. (also pre D70 so I will have to update it). To me the role of the Kingfisher is partly observer (hence his spot on the 'post') but also he takes this position to selectively feed on what goes on around him. Finally, there are a lot of these around my area (Sunshine Coast) and we have watched the one in the photo used as my avatar grow up and establish a relationship with us by the contribution of his presence. He even has a mate now that he brings around to us each afternoon. So there you have it, observer, feeder and contributor.

Yes I took mine of Wollongong Old Lighthouse. Problem was me not being a compu guru I spent most of my time trying to shrink it and I think I shrank it too much. A bit too pixelly for my liking. Mind you lighthouses are quite popular.
