Who need this?
I'm sure Glen a Russian version of this lens and killakoala has one of the reflex lens too.

With that such of money, I rather saving up and buy the 500mm AF-S II.

Gmaster, they are having a lend of anyone at that price  For that money I would also throw in a 50mm 1.8 as well as the 1000mm big russian. Now thats a bargain

I am sure you are not looking at one but they should be about $500- $1,000 s/h, don't buy new as everyone said you can buy a good lens for that money. Interesting find though.

Now, if you could mount that on a Nikonos and take shots while diving would the specular highlights be dunkin' do'nuts? It would make a fine boat anchor.

Focus helical lubricated by Krispy Kreme just to ensure the hole in the middle stays whole!

1000mm...yikes. I prefer the bottom where it lists usable tc's!!!! The 301? on a 1000mm f11? hows the math work out on that?

4K for that thing. Who are they kidding? 4K for 1000mm at F11.

Dirtcheapcameras my ass.

My 8-Inch Meade telescope cost less than that and gives 2000mm at F10.

My 500mm F8 Reflex only cost me $150. (second hand, why buy new?)

While I'm not saying it's a bargain, to be fair to dirt cheap the Maxwell indicative price on this is $3760. B & H have it for US$1999.95.

The specs @ dirtcheap are lifted straight from Maxwell here where the TC 301 is listed as a recommended TC.

Two mini user reviews are here

Stubbsy,
Who's going to buy it at that price?
They were the 1st Online camera trader, but they're the worst of ripping off people, but some newbies and idiots went there and took their baits.

Stubbsy, it's $450 over Maxwells RRP, and no one but no one pays the Maxwells RRP, not even Ted's shoppers.

I'm not saying it's a good price, just that the price they are quoting is in line with the disgustingly high RRP Maxwell put on all their lenses. A quick check shows others are selling this for similar ridiculous prices (eg Camerastore.com.au have it for $4155)

I was just trying to add some balance back to the discussion in that this seems to be the crazy price ALL dealers are charging. PS I have no relationship to dirt cheap, have never bought anything from them and my first visit to their web site was today

My thinking too Glen, but others are also selling above the Maxwell RRP which makes me wonder if the Maxwell website doesn't yet reflect the recent hike in the price of nikkor glass (which birdy mentioned to us a month or two ago)

Some examples taken a few minutes ago with 1100mm f10.5

Top of the bridge about 2.5km away

Image

Centrepoint Tower & MLC Centre, probably 3.5km away

Image

Wouldn't replace your 70-200 for sharpness or contrast, but then not many lenses are getting an image at 3.5km. These are not crops, full size of FOV

Don't think anyone actually wants one. We're just shocked at the price.
