Raw Shooter Essentials 2005For those of you who have tried it, what are your opinions?
I am starting to prefer it over Nikon Capture. The only thing that I dont like is that sometimes it renders oversaturated skin tones. Other then that it is fast and work very well Last edited by huynhie on Mon Aug 15, 2005 10:06 am, edited 1 time in total.
I love using the program The only gripe I have about it is you can't adjust the curves, but then again usually adjusting the shadow/highlight + sharpness is enough.

I've been having trouble getting my version of Raw shooter essentials to open.....is there a limit to the trial version?

Bob, there shouldn't be any issues with the trial version as there aren't any limits.

Thanks that's re-assuring,
must be my computer - pass me that hammer! I might just unclog the bit of the mechanical brain that's full of topic reply notifications from gstark. I hope he won't be offended if I delete some of his emails. He must spend all day writing emails about updated topics I reckon. Bob

From the makers of Bibble IIRC. The layout and keyboard shortcuts all supposedly add to improve workflow.
In terms of usage I prefer it over ACR/CS2. In terms of results, I still sometimes prefer Capture... as huynhie mentioned, skintones. Also as pippin88 pointed out, RSE doesn't alter the NEFs, it saves changes in a subdirectory. This might be an important long term issue if you consider opening a NEF in say Capture, making absolutely no changes and saving/overwriting the file, you end up with a smaller filesize.... what's being thrown out?!
I really like how it works, the 123 thing rocks.
One thing that worries me is that I have some shots of a Black Shouldered Kite and it has very red eyes. When I open it in Capture, and when RSE is previewing the eyes are red. When RSE renders the image properly the red eyes go black. As I can tell it doesn’t have an anti-red-eye feature so I don't know what’s going on. I'll post the raw and respective renderings when I'm home tomorrow evening. http://www.members.optusnet.com.au/~fou ... d_kite.htm is what the eyes look like... and they were even brighter in the sunlight.
