This is a very good capture. Sharp as a tack, good subject matter & makes me want to be there. It would be a great shot wih some changes as already suggested (or it might be an average shot with said changes. Can only tell after you've tried). You have my permission to spend all the time you need at this spot until you get the perfect pic. Peter

Nice take Mark.
My eyes are drawn to the shape of the headland/beach. I kept finding I was looking towards the the end of the point. I like the composition. The fishing rod in the foreground caps it off. Yes it may be nice to see all of the rod, but I don't see this as critical, as to me this is primarily a landscape shot, not a fishing rod shot. (This could just be me - as I like landscape shots ) Again, nice capture. Never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level, then beat you with experience.
Slider,
Nice shot, I would rather be there than here even if they are not bitting. Suggestion to include all the rod would mean shooting in portrate mode, I think this would spoil the effect and include to much sky, but if you include more sand to the left and include all the shadow of the rod then I think you would have a real winner. Cheers Rick.
Thanks for the comments folks.
I did try another with the whole rod, but is was long rod and I had to get back a lot further. A wider angle lens may have helped here. I agree that more of the shadow may of enhanced to overall result but the beach was covered in 4 x 4s which is a bit inconsiderate I thought. Cheers
